My name is Cecilia Matus and I am a visual artist specializing in painting.

I work primarily with watercolor and gouache techniques, although I also have extensive knowledge of other traditional media such as oil, tempera, pyroxylin, colored pencil, graphite, and oil pastels.

My work draws on literary and visual influences such as H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, Remedios Varo, René Magritte, Edward Gorey, Alfred Kubin, and Studio Ghibli. Through my pieces, I seek to tell stories that invite the viewer's interpretation, dispensing with the use of words and avoiding, as much as possible, the explicit.
