I am La Josa, a visual artist originally from Ensenada, Baja California, currently based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. My background in graphic design, combined with formal studies in painting, has allowed me to develop a distinctive artistic language centered on oil on canvas, where I explore symbolism through a surrealist aesthetic.

My work emerges from the desire to transform memory into imagery and emotion into a visual language. I create scenes where the ordinary intertwines with the dreamlike—fish floating through improbable spaces, objects that evoke dreams, and atmospheres infused with nostalgia and hope.

The sea is a fundamental element in my practice, reflecting both my personal history and my bond with my father, who was a fisherman. In my paintings, water and its creatures become symbols of absence, remembrance, and the connections that transcend time.

I paint from an intimate place, exploring memory, loss, and human connection, creating works that invite viewers to engage with profound emotions and reconnect with their own personal histories.
