Bulis was born a week after one of the most important relationships of my life ended. At that moment, I didn't know how to react. I couldn't find the words to explain what I was feeling, nor did I truly understand what was happening inside me. The only thing I knew for sure was that the pain was so intense that it needed to come out somehow.

Painting was the only way I found to do it. While working on the piece, there was no sketch or defined aesthetic intention. Each stroke was an emotional reaction. The faces, phrases, cross-outs, and colors appeared as my mind tried to organize thoughts that were impossible to accommodate.

It was a dialogue with myself, a conversation I couldn't have with anyone else. In the painting, love, confusion, anger, nostalgia, and hope coexist. There are words that seem to lose meaning, figures that distort, and characters that blend because that's how my mind felt: saturated, broken, and trying to reconstruct itself at the same time. Nothing was in balance, and the work didn't have to be either.

The title Bulis refers to those emotional wounds that, although they leave no visible marks, profoundly transform how one perceives oneself. For me, this piece represents the moment I understood that art could sustain me when I didn't know how to sustain myself.

More than a painting about a breakup, Bulis is the portrait of a moment in my life when pain stopped being a silent burden and became paint. It is a work that does not seek to explain what I experienced; it seeks for whoever sees it to feel, even for a moment, the chaos, vulnerability, and the need to move forward that existed within me.
