The Martyr of Time speaks to us about how we justify not having time to do what we like, want, or desire, with that phrase that haunts or we say more than once: "I wish I had more time." This woman, martyred in her white clothes that only reveal her tranquil face, reflects the complete opposite: a tranquility corrupted by not knowing what to do with the time she has left. The leafy vines show the passage of time itself, with two flowers behind them, colloquially called "angel's trumpets," which have a hypnotic and lethal effect on people if they stay under them for too long. A crown made of the same vine with 12 leaves simulates a natural clock crown, and just above it, a flower colloquially called a "bellflower"—these are the elements that surround the work, telling us that time continues, but that doesn't mean we should be martyrs for not doing things.
